Sunday 13th November ’16

Hey sports fans,

The competition many Essex Young Farmers always shout about was on Sunday 13th November at Writtle College. It was of course the Rugby competition! We wanted to hold a competition on Remembrance Sunday so we could get a big group together to pay our respects to those who fought and served for our country. We did this by starting the tournament with two minutes of silence.

The Rugby was full contact for the gents and it was Touch Rugby for the ladies! Everyone was fired up for this one and no one was shy to get stuck in! This competition was scored by adding points from both the male and female teams from each club.

The top three teams for the mens were Halstead, Ongar and Ashdon & Saffron Walden respectively whilst for the girls it was Dunmow who won followed by Ongar and then Ashdon & Saffron Walden took third place. The combined results for girls and boys then meant that the winners of the tournament were Ongar with Halstead being runners-up and Ashdon & Saffron Walden also taking points for coming third.

Well done to everyone that took part and also thanks to anyone else that came to support.

We look forward to seeing you at the next competition which will be a non-sporting one but the ever popular Public Speaking.
